Designed at Godrej Appliances R&D
The brief was to reimagine the split air conditioner, focusing on simplified construction and a reduced part count, while creating a fresh, cohesive visual identity.
RESEARCH | market & user
Delhi | Amritsar | Kochi | Mumbai
The market lacks differentiation in visual identity; products appear visually cluttered and repetitive, resulting in limited design recall.
Most air conditioners on the market follow a similar design language: all white, flat panels, floating or decorative trims, and visible discontinuity in form.
Users perceive sophistication through simplicity - they value quiet confidence over ornamental expression.
Across cities, users prioritised performance, price, and reliability over looks. While aesthetics are appreciated, overly styled designs are often seen as less appreciated.
Ideation | Form exploration | CMF
Monolith is defined by a soft, sculpted geometry designed to integrate naturally into contemporary living spaces. The tapered front surface subtly communicates the airflow, while the extended louver line blends into the body to form a clean, continuous volume. The design minimizes visual clutter and focuses on controlled surfaces, clean transitions, and a composed, architectural form.
